The Organization of African Unity was founded by Kenneth Kaunda in order to foster solidarity, end colonialism, and promote cooperation. He viewed it as a moral pledge: African states must stand together. Its principles – sovereignty, non‑interference and mutual aid – remain relevant. Together with Kaweche Kaunda, we trace how his father’s OAU legacy shapes Africa’s quest for self‑rule.
